How we care for what you share.

Forget-Me-Not exists to hold memories of people who mattered. That only works if you can trust us with them. This page explains, in plain language, what we collect, why, and what we will never do with it.
What we collect
If you host a memorial
We collect your email address so you can sign in (we use sign-in links, not passwords) and so we can send you updates about your memorial — a new memory added, an order confirmation. Your name, if you give it, helps us address you kindly.
If you contribute a memory
You don't need an account. We ask for your name and, optionally, your relationship to the person and your email address. Your email address is never displayed publicly. It exists for one reason only: so the family can say thank you. We don't add contributors to mailing lists.
Memories and photos
The written memories, photos, and videos you add belong to the memorial. The host can feature, hide, or remove any contribution — that's their role as caretaker of the page. We only look at content when the host asks for help or when something is reported to us.
The quiet, technical stuff
Like almost every website, we use cookies to keep you signed in and to keep forms secure. Our server logs record things like IP addresses and browser types so we can keep the site healthy and spot abuse. We don't use advertising trackers, and we don't sell data — not to anyone, not ever.
We use Google Analytics to understand how people find and use the site — anonymized usage counts, with IP addresses masked. No advertising features are enabled. If you'd rather not be counted, choose "Privacy choices" in the footer of any page and opt out; the setting is remembered on your device.
Where things are stored
Photos and videos are stored on Cloudflare R2, a secure cloud storage service. Memories and account details live in our database. Emails we send you go through Amazon SES.
Payments
When you order a keepsake book, payment is handled by Stripe. Your card details go directly to Stripe — we never see or store your card number. We keep a record of the order itself (what was ordered, when, and for which memorial) so we can deliver it and answer questions later.
Photos of children
Family photos often include children. Hosts control who can see a memorial: it can be public (anyone with the link) or unlisted (only people the host shares it with). Memorials are never listed in search engines unless the host explicitly opts in. If you see a photo of your child that you'd like removed, write to us and we'll take care of it promptly.
Moderation
Hosts can hide or remove any contribution from their memorial. If something harmful or abusive is posted, contact us and we will act quickly. We reserve the right to remove content that is unlawful or abusive.
Your memories are yours
Hosts can download everything — every photo, every memory — as a family bundle, free, at any time. Keeping your memories was never meant to cost anything.
Deleting your data
If you want a memorial, a contribution, or your account deleted, just ask. Write to us at [email protected] and we'll remove it. Deletion is real deletion — content is removed from our systems, with only brief residual copies in backups that expire on their own.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll note the new date at the top and, for significant changes, email hosts directly.
